There is no completely universal EV charger worldwide, and charging cables and plugs vary depending on the country and region you are in and the vehicle you are driving. For example, the common charging connector in Europe is CCS2, while the common connector in the US is CCS1, and as for China, the GB/T standard plug is used. EV charging cable is the connection cable between EV and charging infrastructure, and is an important part of EV charging, and is an important component to connect EVs to charging stations.
Internationally, EV charging is divided into four charging modes, so what cable should be selected for EV charging in the corresponding mode?
EV charging mode 1: This charging mode is to connect the charger directly to the electric vehicle and the charging facility, with a lack of communication between the vehicle and the charging point. This type of charging mode is more suitable for electric bicycles and has certain safety risks for electric vehicles. The current usually used in this mode is 10A or 16A. FAFA-E 3*1.5 cable and 3*2.5 cable are recommended.
EV charging mode 2: When you buy an EV, most manufacturers will give you a mode 2 portable charger, but there are some manufacturers who no longer give it away, which requires us to buy it ourselves. This charger has an ICCB control box integrated in the cable, which can control and protect the whole charging process. FAFA-E 3*2.5+2*0.7 cable is recommended for chargers with rated current 10A/16A, and 3*4.0+2*0.75 cable is recommended for chargers with rated current 16A/32A.
EV charging mode 3: This charging mode is suitable for most public charging stations, neighborhoods, family residential areas, public parking lots and other locations. Compared to the previous two charging modes, mode 3 charging is slightly faster again. The charging cable is responsible for the control, communication and protection of the entire charging process. The common output currents for mode 3 are single-phase 16A, single-phase 32A, three-phase 32A, three-phase 63A, and three-phase 125A. FAFA-E 3*4.0+2*0.75 cable, 3*6.0+2*0.75 cable, 5*6.0+2*0.75 cable, 5*16+2*0.75 cable, and 5*35+2*0.75 cable are recommended, respectively.
EV charging mode 4: Mode 4 charging cables are used at DC charging posts, usually the charging cable is fixedly connected to the charging post, which is a fast charging mode. Of course, faster charging speed means more heat generated by the whole charging system, and it is recommended to use cables with liquid cooling technology to handle this heat. The FAFA-E high power liquid-cooled charging cable is recommended. By setting up a circulation pipe between the charging post, the cable and the connector, and adding coolant inside the pipe, the power pump circulates to take away the heat and complete the fast charging.
The FAFA-E European standard portable charger is suitable for EV mode 3 charging; the European standard and American standard charging cable is suitable for mode 3 on the charging post; the high power liquid-cooled charging cable is developed in cooperation with OMG, the world's leading cable manufacturer, and is suitable for mode 4 charging.
