What is a CCS1 type connector?

The traditional Type 1 cable is mainly used to provide AC single-phase charging for electric vehicles manufactured in North America, Korea, Japan and other regions. Due to the slow charging speed of this cable, it is gradually replaced by the Combined Charging System CCS. the CCS1 connector supports 80A AC charging, and if your electric vehicle allows it, it can be used with the FAFA-E liquid-cooled charging cable, which can achieve 600A high current Fast charging.

CCS Type1 connector consists of five pins above and two pins below. The five pins above are mainly composed of PE, CP, SC, the other two pins are composed of N, L2, DC- and L1, DC+, and the pins below one is DC+ and one is DC-.

PE mainly serves to protect the ground, CP stands for charging control, while CS mainly monitors the control status, L1 is single-phase AC (or DC power DC+ when using a 1-stage power supply), and N refers to three input midline (or DC power DC- when using a 1-stage power supply).

The Combined Charging System CCS is a DC fast charging solution, either Type 1 or Type 2, with two additional pins on the bottom, which in the case of DC charging, these two lower pins also participate in the charging. By using it in combination with the communication pins and ground conductor, the CCS1 connector is capable of carrying up to 350KW of high power.

CCS1 connectors are more common in the US and CCS2 connectors are mainly used in Europe, but CCS is not compatible with the Japanese charging standard CHAdeMO and the Chinese standard GB/T charging stations because they use different communication protocols and therefore require the use of special adapters.
